Shake for Help is a fast way to raise an alert if you are unable to open your phone and hold down the Help button. If you are ever in an emergency situation where you do not have time to react or think clearly, you can instantly shake your phone and your monitor will be notified that you may be in trouble.

How it Works

On the top bar, select “Shake for Help On" to activate it on your device. This feature will only be active once you have

Checked in to a shift

When you shake your device whilst on a shift, a 15 second countdown will begin as a grace period in case it was an accident.

## Man Down

Using your existing smartphone technology to alert your supervisor if you have become immobile or lost consciousness.

## When you can’t call for help, OK Alone will do it for you.
*Page 10*

Worker Down is an automated safety feature within the OK Alone app that detects when a worker has stopped moving for a set period of time. Designed specifically for lone workers who may be unable to call for help, it triggers an alert to supervisors so action can be taken quickly, even when the worker is unresponsive.

How to use it

Select Worker Down from the menu and set a time frame and sensitivity.

If movement is not detected within your set time frame, the app will sound an alarm, signaling you to check in.

If you do not check in, an alert will be raised to your monitor, who will attempt to contact you and check you are okay.

If you are okay, your monitor will ask you to check in - but if you do not respond, your monitor will follow your company escalation procedure.

## Timed Activity
*Page 11*

Automatically trigger an emergency alarm when you start a high-risk activity and don’t respond when the activity should end.

## When Safety Depends on Timing, We Keep Track for You
*Page 12*

Timed Activity is a flexible feature within the OK Alone app that allows you to set a safety timer for high-risk tasks. Whether lifting heavy items, entering a risky area, or working in a confined space, workers can start a countdown that will trigger an alert if they don’t confirm completion of the task.

How to use it

Open the menu and select Timed Activity. You can then name your activity and choose its length or an end time.

A countdown timer will then run in the background of your task and prompt you to check in when time runs out.

If the countdown reaches zero without any confiration that you are okay, a grace period will begin.

If that grace period expires, an alert will automatically be raised to your monitor.

At any point you can either complete your activity to stop the timer or extend your activity to lengthen it.

High-Risk Check-In lets you override your normal check-in schedule with a shorter timer - from 10 minutes up to 5 hours. If you miss this shortened check- in, your monitoring team is notified immediately and can dispatch assistance to your last known location.

How to use it

Open the menu and select High Risk. You can then choose the duration (from 10 minutes up to 5 hours).

A countdown timer will then run in the background of your task and prompt you to check in when time runs out.

If the countdown reaches zero without any confirmation that you are okay, a grace period will begin.

If that grace period expires, an alert will automatically be raised to your monitor.

## Supporting Workers Beyond Signal Range
*Page 16*

Low Signal Mode+ ensures that you can still check-in and stay safe when outside mobile data or Wi-Fi coverage. When no internet connection is detected, the OK

Alone app automatically switches to offline mode and will guide you to complete check-in via SMS or phone call.

How to use it

When you have low or no signal, your OK Alone app will let you know that your prompt has failed. You will be given 3 options: “Try again”; “Send SMS" or “Make Phonecall”.

If you choose the SMS option, the message will be automatically created and you simply need to hit send to update your status.

The Phonecall option will place a call to our automatic status line, where your update is registered.

Once you have completed either of these steps, return to the app and tap the manual update button to confirm you have performed the update.

Monitoring

## Privacy and Location Sharing
*Page 22*

We know location can feel personal — OK Alone isn’t here to track you 24/7. Your location is only shared when you give permission: for example, when you check in for a shift or if an alarm is raised and help is needed. Monitors don’t have a backdoor into your phone. They only see location information that you’ve allowed and only for as long as it’s required to keep you safe.

How it works for you:

You’re in control — location is shared only when you check in or when an emergency alarm activates.

Temporary access — shared location is used to find or assist you during a shift or incident, and it isn’t kept live after the situation is resolved.

Limited viewers — only the assigned monitor team or emergency responders (if needed) can see the location, and only to respond to a safety event.

Protected data — location and check-in information are handled according to your employer’s privacy policy and OK

Alone’s security safeguards.

## GPS Settings
*Page 23*

To ensure your safety while using OK Alone, the app relies on your phone’s GPS to share your location. Different GPS settings are available to balance accuracy with battery life. Choosing the right option helps maintain reliable location tracking without draining your phone unnecessarily.

GPS High – this uses your phone’s GPS to provide continuous location data every 10 seconds. It is the most accurate setting.

The data is collected even when no cell signal is available.

GPS Normal – this uses your phone’s GPS to provide continuous location data to the system every 1–2 minutes.

With this setting the battery use is minimised whilst still providing an accurate location in case of emergency.

Non GPS – updates your location at regular intervals. This setting maximises battery life whilst providing an approximate location. This should only be used if an accurate location is not required.

Off – this turns the GPS off.

Questions

Check out some of our top FAQ's - which you may also have

## FAQ's
*Page 25*

1. How does OK Alone track my location

Your location is tracked only while you are on shift.

Once you tap End Shift, tracking stops.

You can choose GPS High, Normal, or Non-GPS modes in Settings.

2. How much mobile data does the app use?

Very little — around 10 MB per week in GPS Normal mode (similar to sending one photo a day).

3. Can I use OK Alone without a smartphone?

Yes — you can use any phone that supports voice calls or SMS. You can also use satellite messengers like ZOLEO or SPOT X for remote areas.

4. Can I be logged in on more than one device?

Yes — the devices will synchronise.

However, we recommend using only one device at a time to prevent missed updates or duplicate notifications.

If you switch devices, end your shift on one before starting it on another.

Question 5.What if my battery is running low?

The app continues running on low battery, but if your phone turns off, your monitor will stop receiving updates.

OK Alone automatically reduces location update frequency to save power. Keep your phone charged or carry a power bank during long shifts.

6. Who can see my location data?

Only your assigned monitors and administrators can view your location.

OK Alone does not share or sell your information.

Your GPS coordinates are recorded only while on shift and are automatically deleted after 30 days.

7. What if I accidentally tap “Help”?

Tap Cancel Help immediately.

If the alert has already been sent, contact your monitor to confirm you’re safe.

8. I forgot my Worker PIN — how do I get it back?

Your PIN is issued by your company monitor or administrator. If you lose it, contact them or email customer.support@okalone.net to have it re-sent securely.

9. What if I lose mobile signal or Wi-Fi?

The app automatically switches to Low Signal /

Limited Coverage Mode. You’ll be prompted to send your update by SMS or phone call so you stay connected even without data.
