## 2. May 2026 release — what's new

From the OK Alone Product Call presentation, May 2026. Twelve items.

## 3. Detection features — Man Down vs Fall Detection vs Alert Audio

These three are routinely confused. They are distinct.

**Why Alert Audio matters:** it removes the callback step. Operators hear the scene immediately, which is decisive when a worker is unable to speak, respond, or answer a phone.

**A messaging shift worth knowing about.** Older OK Alone marketing argued *against* accelerometer-based fall detection — that it "can often result in frequent false alarms" and that "the worker down detection algorithms that sense movement or the lack of movement are more reliable." OK Alone has since shipped Fall Detection. If a customer quotes the old positioning back at you, the honest answer is that Fall Detection is a newer, additional layer on trial rollout with tunable sensitivity — not a replacement for Worker Down, which remains the core capability and the only one available on Android.

## 4. Alert Zone Intelligence

> Real-time, location-based risk awareness for workers and monitors.

### 4.1 What it is

**One-liner:**
> Alert Zone Intelligence warns your team of critical risks in their area with real-time, location-based alerts.

**Short (25–40 words):**
> Alert Zone Intelligence adds a proactive layer to OK Alone. It maps live and custom risk zones, alerts workers as they approach or enter them, and shows monitors exactly who may be affected.

**Full (website-style):**
> Alert Zone Intelligence adds a proactive layer to OK Alone's safety platform. It helps organisations identify live and custom risk zones, understand which workers may be affected, and notify people when they approach or enter a mapped alert zone. Instead of relying only on missed check-ins, panic alerts or emergency escalations, safety teams can give workers earlier awareness of risks around them — severe weather, verified live incidents, heat hazards, crime, or custom organisation-specific hazards.

**Website hero copy (live):**
> "Proactive Protection for Lone Workers — See risks around your workers in real time, alert them when they enter threat zones, and help teams act before a situation becomes an emergency."

### 4.2 How it works

Alert Zone Intelligence overlays high-risk zones onto the OK Alone dashboard map and continuously compares those zones against worker location data. When a worker is inside a zone, or approaches or enters one during their shift, OK Alone sends a push notification describing the risk. **Every notification is logged.**

**Worker experience (app)**

- **Two automatic notifications per zone:**
  - **Proximity alert** when approaching. Example: *"Heads up: Safety alert nearby — High Risk Neighbourhood within about 1 mile of you. Open OK Alone for details."*
  - **In-zone (critical) alert** when inside. Example: *"CRITICAL — Urgent: Safety alert — Dangerous Dog Reported at your location. Open OK Alone now."*
- Dedicated **Alert Zones** view in the app menu: a live map of active zones (polygons and pins) plus the worker's own location, with an active-alert count.
- Below the map, nearby alerts are **ranked by proximity** with distance shown ("118 ft away", "0.6 mi away"), each carrying headline, location, severity badge, source tag, expiry and full description with safety guidance.
- Workers can **filter by radius** (e.g. 100 mi) and **by category**, and refresh on demand.
- Workers **don't need to be in a zone** to check it. They can review nearby zones at the start of a shift, and the feature works before, during and after a monitored session.
- **iOS and Android** — push notifications must be enabled.

**Monitor / admin experience (dashboard)**

- **Live map overlay** — the Worker Locations map gains an **Alert Zones tab** alongside Workers, showing all active zones with severity, source, type (pin/polygon), area, description and effective/expiry times. Zones render as shaded polygons or pins; clicking opens a detail popup. Monitors can see exactly which workers are in or near affected areas.
- **Filtering** by source and severity.
- **Alert Zone Intelligence page** — manage custom zones: search, filter by severity and status, sort, edit, and **Create Alert Zone**. The page's own info text: *"Alert Zone Intelligence lets you define custom geographic threat areas for your organisation. Workers can receive alerts when they enter or approach these areas."*
- **Alert Zone Intelligence Notifications page** — full push-notification history: Sent At, Worker, Threat, Category, Severity, Alert Type (Proximity / In Zone), Distance. Filterable by worker and date range. Safety teams can evidence exactly who was alerted, about what, and when.

### 4.3 Alert feeds and sources

More feeds are being added over time; the roadmap is to keep expanding sources based on customer feedback.

**Alert zone data model.** Every zone, regardless of source, carries the same fields: **source** · **category** (weather / heat_zone / factal / custom) · **event** · **severity** (Minor / Moderate / Severe) · **area** (`area_desc`, e.g. "Pecos, TX" or "Island Lake, MB") · **headline** · **description** (full safety guidance from the issuing authority) · **effective** date/time, plus expiry where set. Feed alerts retain the issuer's original wording — NWS warning text, Environment Canada health guidance and so on.

**Real feed examples (14 Jul 2026):**

- `weather` — *Severe — "Flash Flood Warning issued July 14 at 8:58AM CDT until 10:30AM CDT by NWS Midland/Odessa TX" — Pecos, TX. Doppler-indicated heavy rain, 2–4 inches fallen.*
- `weather_ca` — *Moderate — "Air quality warning - Island Lake (MB)". Wildfire smoke; limit time outdoors; N95 guidance. Issued by Environment Canada and Manitoba Health.*
- `osha_heat` — *Moderate — "OSHA Initial Heat Trigger reached in Howard, MD — Current heat index is 85°F". Maryland outdoor heat exposure rule applies; provide water, shade, paid rest breaks.*
- `factal` — *Moderate — "Firefighters Battling Zebra Fire Burning In San…" — State Rte 39 & Mountain Laurel Way, Azusa, CA, US (street-level geolocation).*

### 4.4 Factal — verified breaking news and risk intelligence

Factal is a real-time risk intelligence and verified breaking-news platform, created by the founders of Breaking News and staffed by experienced journalists working around the clock with advanced detection technology. Factal detects, verifies and publishes breaking events faster than news organisations, filtering out disinformation so companies can respond confidently.

Why it matters here:

- **Verified, not rumour** — every incident is fact-checked by journalists before publication. No social-media noise, no false positives.
- **Precisely geolocated** — incidents located down to street level, so zones map accurately against worker locations.
- **Fast** — events typically published faster than traditional news coverage.
- **Trusted** — used by major corporations, including Fortune 100 security teams, for corporate, travel and operational security.

In OK Alone, Factal incidents appear as **Factal Alert** zones with severity, precise address or area, incident summary, and active from/until times — e.g. *"Severe — Factal Alert — 4345 University Wy NE, Seattle, WA, US — Seattle Police Are Looking For A Suspect Following…"*

### 4.5 Custom Alert Zones

Admins can create their own zones for organisation-specific hazards:

- **Shape** — drop a **pin with a radius**, or draw a **polygon** geofence around any area.
- **Details** — event name, headline, severity, area, description and safety instructions.
- **Timing** — effective-from and expiry dates; zones stay active as long as you want.
- **Management** — edit, search, filter by severity or status, and deactivate from the Alert Zone Intelligence page.

**Example use cases:** high-threat customer addresses, high-risk neighbourhoods and crime areas, dangerous dogs at a property, wildfire risk areas, unsafe premises, temporary hazards (events, protests, road closures).

**Example custom zone (demo data):**

### 4.6 Severities, categories and alert types

- **Categories (data):** weather · heat_zone · factal · custom. Some UI labels also surface incident categories, e.g. Civil Unrest for Factal alerts.

### 4.7 Benefits (messaging bank)

1. **Earlier risk awareness** — workers understand nearby risks before a situation escalates into an emergency.
2. **Faster safety decisions** — managers and workers can reroute, pause work or follow internal procedures in time.
3. **Better visibility for monitors** — see zones on the dashboard and identify which workers may be affected.
4. **Location-based worker alerts** — automatic notifications when workers are in, or enter, a mapped risk area.
5. **Custom risk management** — map your organisation's own known hazards, not just public feeds.
6. **Auditable notifications** — every alert logged with time, worker, zone and distance, for compliance and duty-of-care evidence.

### 4.8 Requirements and availability

- Included in the OK Alone platform (app + dashboard).
- Worker app on iOS and Android. **Push notifications must be enabled**; location permissions required.
- Worker location comparison runs during monitored sessions; workers can view the Alert Zones map before, during and after a session.
- Dashboard access for admins and monitors to manage zones and view notification history.

### 4.9 Demo video narrative

1. Alert Zone Intelligence brings more proactive safety monitoring to OK Alone, using worker location to alert them when approaching or arriving in an alert zone.
2. **Dashboard** — log in to see workers and alert zones together on the map: Wildfire Risk, High Threat Customer, Dangerous Dog, High Risk Neighbourhood.
3. **Feeds** — zones come from partners such as Factal, plus weather services.
4. **Worker flow** — a worker starting a shift is covered immediately. On receiving a push alert they open **Alert Zones**, see nearby alerts, zoom out for the full picture, and filter by category. They don't need to be in a zone; they can check at shift start, and before and after a started session.
5. **Custom zones** — create zones for high-threat customers, dangerous dogs, high-risk crime areas, with description and effective-from/expiry dates; draw a polygon or drop a pin with radius. Zones persist as long as needed.
6. **Audit** — all outgoing notifications are visible, so you know who was alerted, about what, and when.
7. **Close** — the feature keeps expanding; feedback welcome, more feeds coming.

## 5. OSHA Heat Zones

**A dedicated layer within Alert Zone Intelligence**, purpose-built around US state heat-illness-prevention law rather than general weather or incident alerts.

### 5.1 What it is and why it matters

Heat illness is one of the most under-reported workplace hazards in outdoor industries, and a growing number of US states have enforceable rules requiring employers to act once temperatures hit specific thresholds. Lone workers are at heightened risk, often with no one nearby to spot early signs of heat stress.

OSHA Heat Zones gives customers automatic notifications tied to **actual state legal thresholds**, not generic "it's hot today" advisories. It strengthens the safety story for any customer with outdoor lone workers in a covered state, and gives them a documented, system-driven component of their heat illness prevention plan.

### 5.2 How it works

**What the worker sees**

- A push notification when they enter an active heat zone.
- The notice names the tier: **Heat Proximity** (basic threshold) or **Heat Limit** (high-heat threshold).
- **Awareness only** — no action guidance. The worker's employer plan governs next steps.

**What the monitor sees**

- Heat zones appear on the existing Alert Zone Intelligence map overlay — no new dashboards or workflows to learn.
- Zones update **every 15 minutes** in the background, checked automatically at county level.

### 5.3 US states covered at launch

## 6. Team Broadcast

**Status:** new feature — content and collateral in development. Based on Peoplesafe's existing Team Broadcast. **Commercial model not yet confirmed** for OK Alone (see §9). Owner: Dan Noblett.

### 6.1 What it is

Team Broadcast is a mass-notification feature letting administrators send instant, trackable alerts to their workforce — everyone, a targeted group, or hand-picked individuals — delivered straight to workers' phones through the OK Alone app.

The core value is not just speed of sending. It is **accountability**: Team Broadcast turns "we sent an alert" into "we know who received it, who read it, who acknowledged it, and who we still need to reach."

**One-line positioning:**
> Instant, trackable alerts to your entire workforce, or exactly the people who need them, built into the OK Alone platform.

**Tagline (mirrors Peoplesafe's phrasing):**
> Instant alerts to keep your team safe. All in our dedicated lone worker apps. Warn and inform your team wherever they are.

### 6.2 Who it's for

Organisations with people working alone, remotely, or spread across multiple sites — the population OK Alone already protects.

- **Administrators / H&S teams** — compose and send broadcasts, monitor delivery
- **Monitors** — see who is aware during a developing situation
- **Field workers** — receive, read and acknowledge broadcasts

**Sectors that benefit most:** Retail, Healthcare, Housing, Transport, Utilities, Construction, Education, Public sector.

### 6.3 Why it matters

Dispersed and lone workforces are hard to reach fast, and hard to account for afterwards. Email gets missed, texts get buried, and "we sent a message" is not proof anyone saw it. Lone workers in particular may have no one nearby to relay urgent information.

Team Broadcast gives administrators a direct channel to workers' phones, with priority levels, precise targeting, and a full delivery record built in — so during a live incident an admin can see at a glance exactly who is aware and who still needs a phone call.

The active session/shift filter means a broadcast about a live, in-the-field issue doesn't land on people who are off duty and unaffected. That keeps every message relevant and avoids training workers to tune broadcasts out.

### 6.7 Delivery and tracking stages

Every broadcast is tracked through **three distinct stages**. Read and acknowledged are **separate states** — opening the message does not count as acknowledging it.

- Drill into any broadcast for a person-by-person status breakdown and the full message content
- Compose with title, summary and detailed message; mark Critical or Normal
- Target everyone, a group or team, hand-picked individuals, or only people on an active session/shift

**In the worker app**

Team Broadcast sends a push notification directly to employees' mobile devices via the lone worker apps, which can be configured to override Do Not Disturb settings. The process of receiving the message, reading it and acknowledging receipt is all tracked in Nexus, so you can quickly see who is aware of a developing situation and make a priority list of people to contact."*

**Targeted Messaging:** *"Send messages to specific individuals, Teams, or Groups, allowing for precise communication and minimising unnecessary alerts. This granular control ensures relevant information reaches the right people at the right time."*

**Peoplesafe's own FAQs — note both answers:**

- *Will all staff need a Peoplesafe application to receive Team Broadcast messages?* **Yes** — everyone receiving messages needs the Peoplesafe app, either Pro or SOS. The technology sends a push notification, which goes directly to an application.
- *Is there an extra cost for Team Broadcast?* **Yes, there is an add-on cost.** It works across both Pro and SOS versions.

**Peoplesafe Nexus help centre (worker-facing framing):** *"Team Broadcast is a feature within the Peoplesafe app that allows your Health & Safety (H&S) Administrators to send important and timely information directly to your phone via push notifications."* — used for urgent safety warnings or hazards, changes to procedures or protocols requiring immediate awareness, important safety and wellbeing updates, and other critical information requiring prompt attention.

> Note the worker-facing framing is **narrower and more protective** than a generic "mass notification" tool — positioned around safety-critical information, not general comms. Worth mirroring when describing it to customers.

## 8. Don't oversell — documented limitations

Consolidated from all three feature docs. These are deliberate scope decisions, not bugs. Stating them plainly builds more trust than glossing over them.

**Alert Zone Intelligence**

- Worker location comparison runs during monitored sessions. Push notifications and location permissions are required — without them the feature is inert.
- Feed coverage is US (NWS), Canada (Environment Canada), Factal and custom zones. Other regions rely on custom zones only.

**OSHA Heat Zones**

- **No indoor/outdoor distinction** — all workers are treated as outdoor.
- **No PPE or sector filtering** — including Colorado, where the state rule is agriculture-only but the zone is applied statewide in v1.
- **No worker action guidance** — notice only. The employer's plan governs next steps.
- **No new monitor workflows** in v1.
- **US only.** Scoped to US states with legally-defined OSHA heat-illness-prevention requirements. Canada has its own heat alerts via the Canadian weather feed within Alert Zone Intelligence, but that is separate from this OSHA-specific layer.
- Minnesota is **not covered** (indoor-only rule). The other 44 states get standard NWS extreme-heat alerts.

**Fall Detection**

- **iOS only.** No Android equivalent.
- **Trial rollout** while performance is optimised — don't present it as fully GA.

**Alert Audio**

- Whether website copy will be updated from the remaining "Threat Intelligence" / "threat zones" wording.
- Pricing and packaging — included vs add-on — and regional availability.
- Additional planned feeds for roadmap messaging.

**Team Broadcast**

- **Export format** — CSV, PDF or other?
- **Active session/shift concept** — does it reuse OK Alone's existing shift/session concept, or a Team Broadcast–specific one?
- **Permission model** — how is Team Broadcast permission granted; is it per-feature or tied to an existing admin/monitor access level?
- **Pricing and licensing** — Peoplesafe charges Team Broadcast as a paid add-on across both app tiers. The intended OK Alone commercial model (add-on vs included in a plan tier) is not confirmed.
- **Do Not Disturb override** — the platform-level mechanism for full-screen/DND override on iOS and Android depends on specific platform permissions and needs engineering validation.
- **Channel coverage** — confirm delivery is app-push only, and whether SMS-only or satellite-device workers are in or out of scope.
- **Delivered vs sent** — is "delivered" tracked as a distinct state, or are sent / read / acknowledged the complete set?
