## Article 1: Updates to the OK Alone Location Map

Updated: 2026-01-20T14:33:16Z

Following feedback from our customers, we’ve made a number of improvements to the OK Alone Location Map. These updates are focused on clarity, usability, and helping Monitors get a faster, more accurate overview of what’s happening in the field.

The Location Map is designed to give you confidence at a glance — who is working, where they are, and whether anyone needs help. These changes make that job easier.

##
Clearer Worker Icons on the Map

We’ve updated the worker icons displayed on the map so they are **clearer and easier to see** , especially when viewing multiple workers at once.

This makes it quicker to understand the current situation without needing to zoom or click into individual workers.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/43027058620561)

##
Easily Switch Between Status View and Group Colour View

You can now quickly switch between two different map views:

  * **Status view** – shows each worker’s current status

  * **Group colour view** – shows workers using their assigned group colour

The group colour view is particularly useful for identifying workers by **location, team, department, or job role** when they are overlaid on the same map.

When using the group colour view, you’ll still see a **small status indicator circle** , so you can always tell whether a worker is OK or in an alert state.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/43027014060433)

## Improved Worker List on the Right-Hand Side

We’ve also improved the worker list on the right-hand side of the map to make active issues easier to spot.

  * Workers with alerts now appear **at the top of the list**

  * Active alerts are clearly visible

  * You can click directly on an alert to:

    * View alert details

    * Quickly jump to the alert

    * Edit the worker if needed

This reduces the time it takes to respond when something needs attention.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/43027014061073)

##
Quickly Identify Nearby Workers

The updated Location Map makes it easier to see **which workers are close to each other**.

If a worker has triggered a **Help alert** or missed a check-in, you can quickly identify nearby workers who may be able to assist or carry out a welfare check.

From the map drop-down, you can also easily view a worker’s **contact details** , making it faster to coordinate a response.

As always, we appreciate feedback and will continue improving OK Alone based on real-world use.

## Article 2: New Improvements to Alert Management: SMC Actions & Alert Validation

Section: Updates & Releases
Article ID: 41136666631825
Article URL: https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/41136666631825-New-Improvements-to-Alert-Management-SMC-Actions-Alert-Validation

Updated: 2025-11-21T08:49:21Z

## See SMC Actions Directly Inside Your Alerts

You can now view every action taken by our Safety Monitoring Centre (SMC) directly within the alert itself. This gives you live visibility as operators work through an incident, making it clear what steps were taken and when.

As the SMC handles an alert, each action is recorded and displayed in real time. Once the alert is resolved, the full action history remains visible so you can review exactly how the situation was managed from start to finish.

This enhancement is available immediately for all accounts using our **Safety Monitoring Centre with 24×7 Emergency Response**.

**To view the new SMC Actions panel:**

  1. Open the **Alerts Report** in your dashboard.

  2. Select any alert that was routed to the SMC.

  3. The **SMC Actions** box will appear within the alert details.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/41136672505233)

## **Alert Validation – Easily Identify Real, False, and Test Alerts**

You can now validate any alert by tagging it as **Real** , **False** , or **Test**. This helps you keep your alert history clean, understand alert trends, and quickly identify genuine emergencies.

Every alert can be assigned a validation type, and this information is now included in:

  * **Alert Filters** – instantly narrow down alerts by Real, Test, or False

  * **Alert Exports** – include validation tags in your downloaded reports for deeper analysis

This improvement is particularly useful when you want to:

  * Spot teams or devices generating excessive false alarms

  * Confirm which workers have tested an OK Alone alert during rollout

  * Quickly isolate all Real alerts for auditing or follow-up

  * Strengthen internal reporting and compliance

Worker Down now includes a more accurate motion confidence system:

  * Two motion detections within 10 seconds are required to reset the timer

  * Brief jolts or minor phone movements no longer affect monitoring

  * A vibration alert triggers at 85% of your timer as a reminder to move or check in

These refinements cut down false alarms while ensuring true inactivity is detected quickly and effectively.

In November, OK Alone will release a new version of the Android app (**version 12.306+**) as part of a required Google Play Store update.
This update includes several exciting new features and performance improvements to make lone-worker protection faster, smarter, and more reliable.

## Power Button SOS (New Feature)

Workers can now trigger a **Help alert by quickly pressing the phone’s power button multiple times** —without unlocking the device or opening the app.
This provides a **discreet, fast way to call for help** when workers cannot safely use their phone or need to avoid drawing attention.

The feature is **disabled by default** and can be managed through its own settings page in the app menu.

## Active Feature Summary (New Feature)

The main screen now shows a **summary of all active safety features** whenever a worker is on shift.

Workers can instantly see which features are running—such as:

  * Shake for Help

  * Power Button SOS

  * Worker Down (Man Down)

  * Drive Mode

Each active feature appears with a **green check icon** and a short description, giving workers confidence that their protection is live and functioning.
This simple visual confirmation helps reinforce awareness of how OK Alone keeps them safe.

## Feature Usage Pop-ups (New Feature)

OK Alone will now monitor how often **Shake for Help** and **Worker Down** alerts are triggered.
If these are activated too frequently, a **pop-up message** will appear suggesting the worker review or disable the feature to avoid unnecessary alarms.

Workers can:

  * **Disable the feature** directly from the prompt, or

  * **Ignore the message** if the alerts are genuine.

This improvement helps reduce false alarms when workers accidentally trigger alerts and aren’t aware they can adjust their settings.

## Shake for Help (Improvements)

The **Shake for Help** system has been upgraded for higher accuracy:

  * Better distinguishes **intentional shaking** from regular motion such as walking, running, or driving.

  * Fewer false alarms and more dependable detection in real emergencies.

  * More responsive countdown alerts for faster confirmation.

Workers will find Shake for Help more reliable and easier to use day-to-day.

## Man Down (Worker Down) (Improvements)

The **Worker Down** feature now uses a new **motion confidence system** to improve accuracy:

  * The app requires **two motion detections within 10 seconds** to confirm a worker is active.

    * Single jolts or brief phone movements no longer reset the inactivity timer.

  * A **vibration warning** now occurs at **85% of the timer** duration, reminding the worker to move or check in before a full alert triggers.

These refinements reduce false activations while ensuring real inactivity is detected quickly.

## Article 5: Introducing App Connectivity: Real-Time Device Insights

Section: Updates & Releases
Article ID: 36959523742737
Article URL: https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/36959523742737-Introducing-App-Connectivity-Real-Time-Device-Insights
Created: 2025-07-08T15:55:24Z
Updated: 2025-07-08T15:55:57Z

---

We're excited to announce the launch of **App Connectivity** , a powerful new feature in OK Alone designed to give safety monitors and managers unprecedented visibility into the status of workers’ mobile devices.

While OK Alone has long supported reliable communication through SMS fallback, phone calls, and integrations like Zoleo for remote areas, App Connectivity takes things a step further—offering **real-time, actionable insights** into the health and connectivity of a worker’s device.

### What Is App Connectivity?

**App Connectivity** monitors key metrics from each worker's mobile device and displays this information in the OK Alone Dashboard:

  * **Battery Level** : See if a worker is running low on power and may soon go offline.

  * **Connection Frequency** : Understand how often the app is able to connect, indicating whether a worker is in or out of coverage.

  * **Signal Strength** __(Android only)__ : Gauge the quality of a worker’s connection, helping determine whether a missed check-in is a false alarm or something more serious.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/36959546043921)

### Why It Matters

App Connectivity makes it easier than ever to distinguish between technical issues and genuine safety concerns. It also provides your team with the data they need to respond quickly and appropriately.

#### Key Benefits:

  * **Real-Time Visibility** : View up-to-date connection health across your workforce.

  * **Smarter Monitoring** : Detect weak signals, dying batteries, or offline devices before they cause check-in issues.

  * **Actionable Reports** : Gain insights into device health trends and identify systemic risks across teams.

  * **Stronger Sales Story** : App Connectivity provides a unique selling proposition for organizations looking to enhance duty-of-care transparency.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/36959546044433)

### Real-World Scenarios

  * A worker’s phone battery drops to 2%—monitors are notified and can act before the device goes dark.

  * A check-in is missed, but the last battery reading was 1%—likely a flat battery, not an emergency.

  * A worker disappears from the map, but the signal strength was previously “Poor”—possibly out of coverage, not a confirmed risk.

## Article 7: Dual Check-In Reminders for ZOLEO Users

Section: Updates & Releases
Article ID: 35820871444881
Article URL: https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/35820871444881-Dual-Check-In-Reminders-for-ZOLEO-Users
Created: 2025-06-02T11:32:38Z
Updated: 2025-06-05T19:55:30Z

---

We’ve just released an improvement for workers using **ZOLEO devices**. Now, workers can assign their Zoleo number to their account **in addition to** their existing phone number. This enhancement ensures that:

When a **check-in is due** , the reminder is sent to their **primary phon** e and their **ZOLEO number**.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/35820928543889)

This means that even if a worker is **out of mobile signal** , they’ll still receive their check-in reminder via the ZOLEO satellite connection—and can complete the check-in without needing to switch devices or numbers.

Previously, workers had to manually switch between numbers when transitioning in and out of coverage zones. With this update, that hassle is gone. It’s a seamless experience, and one that was requested by many of our customers—so we’re thrilled to deliver it.

## How to Add the ZOLEO Number

There are two ways to add a Zoleo number to a worker’s account:

  1. **Via the Zoleo Tab:**
     * Navigate to the **ZOLEO tab** for the worker.
     * Enter the **ZOLEO number** in the field located **just below the Zoleo IMEI**.
  2. **Via the Worker Edit Page:**
     * Go to the **Edit Worker** page.
     * If a **ZOLEO IMEI** has already been assigned, a field labeled **“ZOLEO Number”** will appear.

![](https://okalonedocs.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/image-3-1024x442.png)

## How to Set Check In Reminders

Check In reminders require our Autometed Monitoring plan. Once this is activated on your account, you can set you SMS reminders in the Check In Setup tab of any worker.
