---

Since May 18, 2018, all countries in the European Union have adhered to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), approved by the European Parliament and Council. The GDPR replaced the earlier Data Protection Directive, establishing uniform data security laws across the EU.

### Why GDPR Matters

GDPR ensures consistent protection of personal data across the EU, improving trust and transparency for individuals sharing their data online.

### What Personal Data Does GDPR Protect?

GDPR covers any information that can identify an individual, including:

  * Names

  * Email addresses

  * IP addresses

  * Photos

  * Personal medical information

  * Phone numbers

Any single item or combination of items used to identify someone must be carefully safeguarded.

### The Seven GDPR Principles

GDPR is built around seven core principles:

  1. **Lawfulness, Fairness, and Transparency**

  2. **Purpose Limitation**

  3. **Data Minimisation**

  4. **Accuracy**

  5. **Storage Limitation**

  6. **Integrity and Confidentiality (Security)**

  7. **Accountability** – Companies must prove they comply with GDPR by documenting and managing data access appropriately.

### Brexit and UK GDPR

After leaving the EU, the UK adopted the UK GDPR, which aligns closely with the original GDPR standards. Any organisation outside the UK processing UK residents' data must comply with the UK GDPR alongside existing laws like the Data Protection Act 2018.

### How OK Alone Ensures GDPR Compliance

**Purpose Limitation and Data Minimisation**
OK Alone collects personal data solely for lone-worker safety purposes. GPS location data is gathered only during active shifts—no off-shift tracking takes place.

**Data Storage and Security**
OK Alone servers are located in Canada and subject to Canada's PIPEDA privacy law. All customer data is secured using AES-256 encryption (data at rest) and TLS 1.3 encryption (data in transit). Robust firewalls protect all stored information. OK Alone does not share customer data with third parties.

**Internal Data Access Control**
Internal access to personal data at OK Alone is strictly controlled:

  * Individual logins with role-based permissions limit data access.

  * Three distinct access levels ensure monitors only access information essential for their roles.

  * Workers interact securely via encrypted connections, without access to others’ personal information.

**User Rights under GDPR**
Users have extensive control over their data, including rights to:

  * Access their personal data

  * Request corrections

  * Request deletion

  * Restrict or object to data processing

  * Obtain copies of their data (data portability)

OK Alone ensures these requests can be fulfilled promptly and thoroughly.

### Certifications and Security Standards

OK Alone is part of the Peoplesafe Group, certified to the following security standards:

  * **ISO/IEC 27001:2022** – International standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)

  * **Cyber Essentials Plus** – UK government-backed cybersecurity certification

OK Alone’s cybersecurity best practices include regular penetration testing, compliance with OWASP Top 10 security standards, and use of Cloudflare infrastructure for enhanced protection.

### Trust and Compliance

GDPR compliance is essential for lone-worker systems, given the personal information involved (names, locations, contact numbers). OK Alone's robust privacy measures ensure data remains secure, transparent, and compliant with both EU GDPR and UK GDPR regulations, helping businesses and workers confidently use the platform.

### What is HIPAA?

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) is a U.S. federal law designed to protect patients' health information. It sets standards for the privacy, security, and handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).

HIPAA applies to:

  * **Covered entities** : Healthcare providers, health plans, and clearinghouses.

  * **Business associates** : Vendors or subcontractors that handle PHI on behalf of covered entities.

PHI includes health-related information that identifies an individual, such as medical records, treatments, or insurance details.

### Does OK Alone Need to Be HIPAA Compliant?

OK Alone collects location, check-in, and emergency data but does not inherently store medical records. Generally, OK Alone does **not** require HIPAA compliance unless specifically used within a healthcare context, where the data collected could be considered PHI.

### How OK Alone Protects Your Data

**Certifications and Security Standards:**

OK Alone is part of the Peoplesafe Group, which holds the following certifications:

  * **ISO/IEC 27001:2022** – International standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)

OK Alone is committed to safeguarding the personal information of workers and monitors who rely on our lone‑worker safety platform. This article explains how OK Alone aligns with Canada’s **Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)** and what that means for your organisation.

## What is PIPEDA?

PIPEDA is Canada’s federal privacy law that governs how private‑sector organisations collect, use, and disclose personal information during commercial activities. It is built on **10 Fair Information Principles** designed to protect individual privacy rights.

## Why PIPEDA Matters for Lone‑Worker Safety

  * **Legal compliance** – Employers operating across provincial or national borders (or in provinces without their own private‑sector privacy laws) must meet PIPEDA requirements.
  * **Employee trust** – Transparent data practices reassure workers that their information and location are handled responsibly.
  * **Risk mitigation** – Demonstrating compliance reduces exposure to fines, reputational damage, and contractual breaches.

## How OK Alone Meets the 10 PIPEDA Principles

Principle | How OK Alone Complies
---|---
**1 Accountability** | A designated Data Protection Lead oversees privacy, backed by ISO 27001:2022 controls and regular audits.
**2 Identifying Purposes** | We collect data solely to protect worker safety (e.g., shift times, GPS during active shifts, alert logs).
**3 Consent** | Workers give explicit consent by starting a shift; no tracking occurs outside working hours. Administrators can export consent records for audits.
**4 Limiting Collection** | Only the minimum data required for safety monitoring is gathered—no personal apps, call logs, or browsing history are accessed.
**5 Limiting Use, Disclosure & Retention** | Data is used only for safety and compliance, never sold or shared for marketing. Location pings are stored 30 days; shift & alert logs 12 months. Back‑ups are held securely for legal retention periods.
**6 Accuracy** | Monitors can correct worker profiles at any time, and workers may request updates or corrections to their personal data.
**7 Safeguards** | AES‑256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, Canadian Microsoft Azure data centres, role‑based access, MFA, and regular penetration tests keep data secure.
**8 Openness** | Our **Privacy Policy** details all practices and is linked in the app and dashboard.
**9 Individual Access** | Workers can request a copy of their data or deletion by emailing **customer.support@okalone.net**. Responses are provided within 7 days.
**10 Challenging Compliance** | Any individual may lodge a complaint with our Data Protection Lead; unresolved issues can be escalated to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

## Data Residency: Hosted in Canada

All OK Alone data—including disaster‑recoverable back‑ups—is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres located in Canada, ensuring residency under Canadian jurisdiction.

## Data Retention & Deletion Schedule

  * **Location data:** 30 days (rolling)
  * **Shift & alert logs:** 12 months
  * **Account backups:** Archived in encrypted cold storage for legally required periods
  * **Permanent deletion:** On written request, data is purged from live systems and back‑ups following a documented destruction process.

## Worker Rights & How to Make a Privacy Request

  1. Email **customer.support@ok-alone.com** with the subject **“PIPEDA Data Request”**.
  2. Specify whether you require **access** , **correction** , or **deletion**.
  3. We will verify identity and respond within 30 days, providing data in a machine‑readable format or confirming completion of the request.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Does OK Alone share data with third parties?**
No. Data is never sold or used for marketing and is disclosed only to deliver safety services or when legally required.

**Is OK Alone suitable for healthcare or regulated industries?**

Assigning the correct check-in interval ensures Workers are monitored according to the risks they face. Use this guide to categorize Workers by risk level and configure their check-in frequency in the Ok Alone dashboard.

##

## Risk Categories and Recommended Intervals

Before configuring check-ins, determine each Worker’s risk level based on their job tasks and environment:

  * **Low Risk (4 hours)**
Suitable for Workers in stable, low-hazard settings—for example, administrative tasks in an open office.

  * **Medium Risk (2 hours)**
Applicable when Workers operate independently but encounter occasional hazards—for example, traveling between multiple job sites.

  * **High Risk (30 minutes)**
Required for Workers in hazardous conditions or remote locations—for example, field technicians working near heavy machinery or in isolated areas.

![](https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/35912389567633)

> **Tip:** If a Worker’s job involves varying risk levels (such as alternating between office work and field visits), consider setting a shorter interval or manually switching to High Risk when they enter a more dangerous environment.

##

## Configuring Check-In Frequency

Follow these steps to set or change a Worker’s check-in interval in the Ok Alone dashboard:

  1. **Open the Workers Page**

     * Log in to the Ok Alone dashboard (<https://my.okalone.net>).

     * In the sidebar, click **Workers**.

  2. **Edit a Worker Profile**

     * Locate the Worker whose check-in frequency you want to adjust.

     * Click the pencil (✏️) icon next to their name.

  3. **Access the Check-In Setup Section**

     * In the Worker’s profile, scroll to **Check In Setup**.

     * Click the dropdown menu under **Check In Frequency**.

  4. **Select the Desired Interval**

     * From the dropdown, choose one of the following options:

       * **4 hours** – for Low Risk

       * **2 hours** – for Medium Risk

       * **30 minutes** – for High Risk

       * **No Timer** – if the Worker does not require regular check-ins (requires Extra Features).

     * The Worker’s new check-in interval is immediately selected.
![](https://okalonedocs.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/check_in_freq-1024x312.png)

  5. **Save Your Changes**

     * Click **Update Setup** at the bottom of the profile.

     * The system applies the new check-in frequency for all future shifts.

##

## Removing or Disabling Check-In Timers

  * If a Worker does not need a recurring timer, select **No Timer** from the dropdown.

  * Ensure **No Timer** is enabled in **Extra Features** under **Settings → Extra Features → Dashboard Features** before assigning it.

  * Remember that omitting a timer means Ok Alone will not send periodic check-in reminders; use this only when your workflow does not require a timer.

##

## Verifying Check-In Settings

  1. **Start a New Shift**

     * After saving, instruct the Worker to begin a new shift in their app.

     * Confirm that the check-in reminders occur at the selected intervals.

  2. **Monitor Upcoming Check-Ins**

     * On the dashboard, click **Workers → [Worker Name] → Upcoming Check-Ins** to view the next scheduled reminder times.

  * You can replace it with any audio file or ringtone stored on your phone.

  * If you change the alarm, restart the app and any active shifts to apply the update.

  * If settings do not take effect, reinstall the app and accept default permissions when prompted.

##

## Steps to Change Your Alarm Tone

  1. **Open the Ok Alone App**

     * Launch Ok Alone from your home screen or app drawer.

     * Make sure you’re signed in and, if applicable, have an active shift running.

  4. **Choose a New Alarm Tone**

     * A dialog appears showing your phone’s ringtone library and any custom sounds.

     * Scroll through the list and tap a tone to preview it.

     * Once you hear a sound you like, tap **OK** (or **Select**) to confirm.

  5. **Save and Test**

     * After selecting a tone, return to the **App Settings** screen.

     * The new alarm name appears under **Alarm Sound**.

     * To test, tap **Test Alarm** (if available) or wait for the next scheduled check-in reminder.

  6. **Restart the App and Shifts**

     * For the change to take full effect, close the Ok Alone app completely (swipe it away from Recent Apps).

     * Reopen the app and, if you had an active shift, end and start it again. This ensures the new sound is used for all subsequent reminders.

Below are answers to common questions about Ok Alone, covering Workers, Monitors, plan limits, check-ins, alerts, devices, pricing, and more. If your question isn’t addressed here, email **customer.support@ok-alone.com**

##

## Workers and Monitors

### What are Workers and Monitors?

  * **Workers** are team members who work alone - whether making home care visits, travelling solo, on a job site, or staying late in the office.

  * **Monitors** are the people alerted if a Worker misses a check-in or sends a help alert. Monitors can be a Worker’s line manager, another on-site colleague, a family member, or an external live monitoring service.

### Do I have to watch a screen all day if I’m a Monitor?

No. Although Monitors have a web dashboard, Ok Alone notifies them by:

  1. **Dashboard/Webpage Notification**

  2. **Email**

  3. **SMS**

  4. **Automated Phone Call**

Monitors can view the dashboard on a phone or tablet whenever they’re out of the office. You’re not tied to your desk.

##

## Free Trial and Account Size

### How many people can I have on my free trial?

There is no limit on the number of Workers or Monitors you can add during the free trial.

### How many Workers or Monitors can I have in total?

There is no practical limit. You can assign as many Workers to each Monitor, and up to 5 Monitors to each Worker.

## Checking In and Reminders

### How can Workers check in using Ok Alone?

Workers can check in four ways:

  1. **Smartphone App**

  2. **Calling In** (landline or mobile)

  3. **Text Message (SMS)**

  4. **Responding to an Inbound Phone Call**
No special hardware or data plan is required if you use any phone capable of voice or SMS.

### Can Ok Alone remind Workers to start their shift?

Yes—if your account includes the Automated Monitoring plan. Ok Alone can send an SMS or email to remind a Worker to start their shift.

### Can Ok Alone remind people to end their shifts automatically?

Yes—when you use Automated Calls. If a Worker forgets to end a shift, you can configure a call just before shift end to remind them. This prevents false alarms when Workers forget to close out.

### Can I vary the frequency of check-in for each Worker?

Yes. You can set check-in intervals anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours—or choose not to have a timer at all.

### Can I vary how frequently the Worker gets a reminder alarm on the app?

Yes. You can choose reminders every 30 seconds up to 1 hour. (On iOS devices, reminders must be in 1 minute increments.) You can also configure repeating SMS messages or automated phone calls.

### What if I go out of cell phone coverage?

  * If the Ok Alone app detects no service, it prompts Workers to check in via text message or by calling a landline number.

  * Workers can check in via SMS or phone from any satellite phone if cell coverage is unavailable.

## Location and Tracking

### Does the system track Workers? Can it be turned off?

  * Ok Alone updates location every 10 seconds to 2 minutes (depending on GPS settings).

  * Workers choose from four GPS modes: **GPS High** , **GPS Normal** , **Non-GPS** , or **Off**.

  * We recommend **GPS High** for precise locations in emergencies.

Workers can disable GPS entirely, but Monitors won’t see real-time location when it’s off.

##

## Alerts and Grace Period

### Can I change when a Monitor receives an alert?

Yes. The **Grace Period** (Monitor alert delay) determines how long Ok Alone waits after a missed check-in before notifying Monitors. You can set it from 5 to 90 minutes.

### Can I have more than one Monitor per Worker?

Yes. You can assign multiple Monitors to each Worker. If one Monitor can’t respond, Ok Alone can escalate to the next person in your escalation procedure or to a Live Monitoring service.

##

## High Risk and Man Down

### What is a High Risk check-in?

A **High Risk** check-in allows a Worker to indicate they are in a hazardous situation. Ok Alone shortens the check-in interval and escalates immediately if they miss a check-in during High Risk mode.

## What is Man Down?

**Man Down** detects when a Worker appears immobile (based on motion sensors). If Man Down is enabled, Ok Alone alerts Monitors within a shorter grace period.

##

## Devices and App

### What devices can use the app?

Ok Alone is available on:

  * **Android** (Google Play Store)

  * **iPhone (iOS)** (App Store)

### Is there a local number to call for landline check-ins?

Yes. Depending on your region:

  * **Canada:** +1 604 256 5739 or +1 438 500 1809

  * **UK:** +44 7380 336757

  * **Australia:** +61 3 8658 1382

  * **New Zealand:** +64 9 887 8405

### Can I go hands-free?

Yes. Workers can link Ok Alone to **Siri** or any **Alexa Dot** device for voice-activated status updates.

##

## Shift Management and Logs

### Do I have access to my log files?

> **Tip:** Setting a Worker’s time zone is especially important if they use Start/End Shift reminders or SMS/phone check-ins.

##

## 4\. Configure Group-Level Time Zone Settings

Assigning a time zone to a Group simplifies configuration for multiple Workers in the same region.

  1. In the sidebar, click **Groups**.

  2. Find the group you want to edit and click **Edit**.

  3. In the **Time Zone** dropdown, select the desired time zone for that group.

  4. Click **Update the Group**.
![](https://okalonedocs.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/image-8.png)

> When you add a Worker to this group, their time zone will automatically update to match the group’s setting.

##

## Best Practices

  * **Define Company Defaults Carefully**
Set your company country and time zone before adding users. Changing afterward can disrupt schedules and reports.

  * **Communicate with Your Team**
Let Monitors and Workers know when they need to select a country or time zone. Provide guidance on when to use app check-ins versus SMS check-ins.

  * **Use Group Time Zones for Large Teams**
If you have many Workers in the same region, assign their group a time zone so you don’t need to edit each profile individually.

  * **Verify Phone Number Formatting**
Once a country is set, make sure each user’s phone number is entered in the correct local format (e.g., +1 604 555 1234 for Canada).

##

## Need Help?

If you have questions about Advanced Country & Time Zone Settings:

  * Email Ok Alone Support at **customer.support@ok-alone.com**

By enabling and configuring these settings, you ensure all users see accurate local times and receive SMS or phone alerts in the correct format—no matter where they are located.

## Article 11: Data Usage for Ok Alone Apps

Section: FAQ
Article ID: 35912464178449
Article URL: https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/35912464178449-Data-Usage-for-Ok-Alone-Apps
Created: 2025-06-04T20:57:17Z
Updated: 2025-07-30T22:34:05Z

---

**Overview**
This article explains how much mobile data the Ok Alone app consumes on iPhone and Android based on different location-tracking settings. Use this information to choose the best setting for your situation and avoid unexpected data charges.

##

## 1\. Location Settings Explained

Within the Ok Alone app, you can select one of three location-tracking modes. Each mode determines how frequently your device sends its GPS coordinates:

  * **GPS High:** Updates every 10 seconds

  * **GPS Normal:** Updates every few minutes

  * **Non-GPS:** Sends location updates a few times per hour

##

## 2\. Data Usage by Location Mode

We conducted tests on each location mode to estimate average data consumption. Keep in mind that actual usage may vary depending on device model and network conditions.

### 2.1 GPS Normal & Non-GPS

  * **Data Consumption:** Approximately 250 KB (0.25 MB) per hour

  * **Weekly Estimate (40-hour workweek):** 10 MB

  * **Comparison:** Roughly equivalent to sending one photo per day

> **Tip:** GPS Normal provides a reliable location update every few minutes while conserving battery and data. Non-GPS mode uses even less data but updates less frequently.

### 2.2 GPS High

  * **Data Consumption:** Approximately 2 MB per hour (about 16 MB per day)

  * **Comparison:** Roughly equivalent to sending three photos per day

> **Tip:** Use GPS High only if you need real-time precision (for example, in fast-moving vehicles or high-risk environments).

##

## 3\. Why the App Uses Data

Even when you’re not actively checking in, the Ok Alone app keeps a lightweight connection to our servers to:

  1. Send periodic location updates based on your chosen mode.

  2. Synchronize any changes to your check-in schedule or timed activities.

  3. Verify that your account settings (group assignments, escalation plans) are up to date.

  4. Receive any incoming configuration or system updates.

  5.

## 4\. Recommendations & Best Practices

  1. **Choose GPS Normal by Default:**

     * Balances timely location updates with minimal data consumption.

     * Ideal for most workers who move at a steady pace.

  2. **Switch to Non-GPS for Low-Risk or Data-Sensitive Situations:**

     * Use when you’ll be on shift for many hours with limited data.

     * Still sends occasional location pings to ensure safety coverage.

  3. **Reserve GPS High for Critical Scenarios:**

     * Only when you require second-by-second accuracy (e.g., in high-speed vehicles).

     * Be aware of the increased data and battery usage.

  4. **Monitor Your Data Plan:**

     * If you have a capped data plan, periodically check your carrier’s usage tracker.

     * Ensure you’re on Wi-Fi whenever possible (for example, to sync logs at shift end).

  5. **Keep the App Updated:**

     * Newer versions often improve network efficiency and reduce background data.

     * Allow the app to update over Wi-Fi only.

##

## 5\. Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: Will Ok Alone track my location when I’m not on shift?**
A: No. Location tracking and data usage only occur while your shift is active. Once you tap **End Shift** , the app immediately stops sending updates.

**Q: Does the app use data for anything besides GPS?**
A: Aside from location pings, the app briefly connects to synchronize settings (check-in times, alert configurations) and to receive system updates. These transfers are typically very small.

**Q: How can I confirm which mode I’m using?**
A: Open the Ok Alone app, tap the **Menu** icon (☰), select **Settings** , and review the “Location Mode” section. You’ll see three options—High, Normal, and Non-GPS—with the active choice highlighted.

**Q: I keep missing check-ins because the battery dies—will switching modes help?**
A: Yes. If battery life is a concern, choose **GPS Normal** or **Non-GPS** so the app uses less power. Consider enabling low-power mode on your device when on shift.

##

## 6\. Troubleshooting & Tips

  * **If Data Usage Seems Unusually High:**

    1. Verify you have the correct mode selected under **Settings → Location Mode**.

    2. Ensure you’re running the latest version of the app (check your App Store or Google Play updates).

    3. Restart your phone to clear any background processes that may be consuming extra data.

  * **If You Frequently Lose Signal:**

    * The app will automatically queue location updates and send them when your connection returns, which may spike data usage briefly. Consider switching to **Non-GPS** in very remote areas to conserve data.

  * **If You Need to Conserve Battery & Data:**

    * Enable **Airplane Mode** and then manually enable **Wi-Fi** (if simulating a shift from a fixed location). The app will use Wi-Fi for check-ins and alerts, avoiding cellular data entirely.

## Article 12: Do Not Disturb Android Settings with Ok Alone

Section: FAQ
Article ID: 35912471069073
Article URL: https://okalone.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/35912471069073-Do-Not-Disturb-Android-Settings-with-Ok-Alone

Updated: 2025-06-05T21:08:13Z

---

**Overview**
By enabling Do Not Disturb (DND) on your Android device, you can silence most notifications while still receiving critical Ok Alone check-in reminders. This guide shows you how to add Ok Alone to the “Allowed apps” list so its alerts come through even when DND is active.

##

## 1\. Accessing Do Not Disturb Settings

  1. Open **Settings** on your Android device.

  2. Tap **Sound & vibration**.

  3. Select **Do Not Disturb**.

## 2\. Allowing Ok Alone in Do Not Disturb

  1. In the **Do Not Disturb** menu, tap **Apps** (sometimes labeled “Allowed apps” or “Apps to allow”).

  2. Tap **\+ Add apps** or **Add** (depending on your Android version).

  3. Scroll through the list and select **Ok Alone**.

     * The Ok Alone app icon and name should now appear under the list of apps permitted to interrupt DND.

## 3\. Activating Do Not Disturb Mode

Once Ok Alone is allowed, you can turn DND on whenever you need to silence most alerts:

  * Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification shade.

  * Tap the **Do Not Disturb** icon (crescent moon or “Do Not Disturb” label).
**[Insert screenshot of notification shade showing the “Do Not Disturb” toggle]**

  * Ok Alone check-in reminders and alarms will still sound while other notifications remain silenced.

##

## 4\. Verifying Ok Alone Notifications

  1. With DND enabled, ask a colleague or use a test shift to trigger a check-in reminder.

  2. Confirm that you hear the Ok Alone notification tone or see the banner.

  3. If you do not receive it, revisit **Settings → Sound & vibration → Do Not Disturb → Apps** and ensure Ok Alone is listed.

##

## 5\. Tips & Best Practices

  * **Priority Notifications vs. Alarms:** Some Android versions separate “Priority only” (calls, messages) from “Alarms & apps.” Ensure you’re in the correct section so Ok Alone is allowed under “Apps.”

  * **Scheduling DND:** You can set a DND schedule (e.g., during meetings or off-hours) in **Settings → Sound & vibration → Do Not Disturb → Schedule**. Ok Alone notifications will still override the schedule if added.

  * **Sound Settings in Ok Alone:** Verify your Ok Alone notification tone is loud enough and not set to “Silent” within the app’s **Settings → Notifications**.

  * **Battery Optimization:** On some devices, aggressive battery savers can mute app notifications. Whitelist Ok Alone under **Settings → Battery → Battery optimization** to ensure check-ins come through.

##

## 6\. Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: Will Ok Alone notifications bypass DND on all Android versions?**
A: Most modern Android releases support exception lists for DND. If your device doesn’t show “Apps” under DND, look for “Exceptions” or “Priority only” settings. Consult your phone’s manufacturer guide if the menus differ.

**Q: Can I allow only check-in reminders but not other Ok Alone alerts?**
A: Android’s DND only allows you to permit the entire app, not individual notification types. However, you can adjust Ok Alone’s internal notification settings under **Settings → Notifications** to disable non-critical alerts.

**Q: I still don’t hear Ok Alone reminders while DND is on. What should I check?**
A:

  * Confirm Ok Alone is added under **DND → Apps**.

  * Ensure Ok Alone’s notification volume is set higher than “Silent” in both Android’s **Sound & vibration** settings and the app’s own **Notifications** menu.

  * Disable any third-party notification blockers or battery savers that might override DND exceptions.

  * **Schedule DND:** You can schedule DND hours (for example, during meetings) under **Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb > Add Schedule**. Ok Alone will still send alerts when its app is allowed.

  * **Check App Notifications:** Within Ok Alone, go to **Settings > Notifications** to verify its notification tone is not set to “Silent.”

  * **Battery Optimization:** Disable aggressive low-power settings that may suppress OK Alone’s background activity. In **Settings > Battery**, confirm OK Alone is not restricted.

##

## 6\. Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: Will other Ok Alone alerts (besides check-in reminders) bypass DND?**
A: DND exceptions apply to the entire Ok Alone app. To limit which notifications play sounds, adjust specific alert types under **Settings > Notifications** inside the Ok Alone app.

**Q: My iPhone doesn’t show “Apps” under Do Not Disturb—what do I do?**
A: On older iOS versions pre-iOS 15, “Do Not Disturb” may not list app exceptions. Instead, open **Settings > Notifications > Ok Alone** and ensure **Allow Notifications** is enabled, then set DND to “Silence: Only while iPhone is locked.” This ensures Ok Alone banners appear when unlocked.

**Q: I still don’t hear Ok Alone reminders—what else should I check?**
A:

  1. Confirm **Focus Status** isn’t suppressing all notifications: go to **Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb**, and verify **Share Focus Status** is enabled.

  2. Ensure your device’s **Volume** is turned up and not muted.

  3. Disable any third-party notification blockers.
